16 and 17 year olds can get the Pfizer shot

    What's the science behind this? Why can 16 and 17 year olds get the Pfizer vaccine, but you have to be 18 or older to get the J&J or Moderna one? Also by the cutoff at 16? What makes a 16 year old good to get the Pfizer one but not a 15 year old?

    It's because Pfizer's phase trial included people 16 or older in their testing but Moderna and J&J started at 18. Not sure why they went younger then the other two though.

    Yep. It's all about who was and wasn't included in clinical trials. If kids (I'm lumping in 16-17 years old's in this category) weren't included in the trials then the FDA won't authorize its use on them.

    Clinical trials for children are notoriously difficult. Many parents, rightfully so, are hesitant to use their children as guinea pigs.
