iOS 14 Looks More Like Android Than Ever Before

Apple is infamous for taking years and years to add functionality and customization to the iPhone OS that Android phones have had almost since day one. Like copy and paste.

And with iOS 14, I don't think we have ever seen Apple more blatantly copy Android OS functionality. They have added customizable widgets to the home screen and minimized Siri's footprint to mirror Google's assistant (where it doesn't take up the full screen anymore). And phone calls don't take up the whole screen either anymore.

They also added pop out videos (picture in picture). So you can watch a video or even use facetime WHILE doing other things. Thumbs Up

All of these are 100% welcome in my book and I don't hate on Apple for implementing them. I think it's great. It's annoying it takes them so long to make these changes when Android can do them so quickly. But I think the trade off is Apple seems to always to do it better at the end of the day. It usually comes out more polished, more well thought out, more useful and with less issues as the whole ecosystem is cohesive as opposed to piece milled.

What do you think of iOS 14 changes? Are you happy Apple is borrowing so heavily from Android?

I think it's funny, first off. Still, I can see why they did it. Both operating systems have some definite strengths. I've always wanted to see a mixture of the two, and it seems like it's getting close to that.

I have exclusively had iPhone's since switching from Blackberry to it back in 2011 and it works great for what I use it for. My phone is used for three things: texting, calling, and scrolling articles or through social media. Oh, and as a mapping service to get me from A-B in the fastest way possible while helping me avoid traffic jams.

In my personal opinion, iPhone is perfect for people who use phones for "the basics" and not for gaming or doing other complicated things. I have nothing against Android phones and would probably even get one if I used my phone for more tasks than what I do, but the iPhone is perfect for me right now.
