What's The Best Way to Watch Coverage of Severe Weather Events?

I used to love watching The Weather Channel when I was a young kid. That was back in the day when the channel focused on exactly that - the weather. I remember thinking how exciting it was to know what the weather was like in all parts of the country, which allowed my imagination to run wild about what it would be like to visit this or that state.

That all started to change as I started getting older. It seemed like they became more focused on becoming a cable television channel (which they always were, but in a different way) and less a channel focused on reporting the weather.

So that leads me to my question: does The Weather Channel still do in depth reporting on major weather events and disasters or have the major broadcast and cable news channels replaced them? I honestly don't know because I haven't tuned in to The Weather Channel in a long time and tend to follow major weather events on cable news, but I'm certainly open to tuning in to The Weather Channel if they do a decent job reporting these events.

It really seems like they've distilled all weather related events down to one single channel, The Weather Channel. I've been through a couple hurricanes in the past few years and they only source I've found for staying up to date on any of it has been The Weather Channel, other than the little updates you get from local news channels.

Yeah I agree. That's pretty much the only place I go to to check the weather.
